MESSAGE

My greetings to the officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence
(DRI) on completion of 68 glorious years in service of the nation.

From cases of narcotics and arms trafficking to the smuggling of gold,
currency, wildlife, hazardous materials, and antiquities, DRI has consistently
led in strike against smuggling network and organised crime. Its expertise in
exposing commercial frauds and trade-based money laundering has further
strengthened the economic frontiers of the country.

Understanding trends and patterns of cross-border illicit trade is
important for development of effective enforcement strategies. In this regard
the Smuggling in India Report 2024-25 offers deep insights into the evolving
dynamics of smuggling and commercial frauds in today's complex economic
and geopolitical environment.

Smuggling and trade-based financial frauds continue to pose serious
threats to economic integrity, supply chain security, and social stability. At a
time when criminal groups increasingly exploit darknet platforms, cryptocur-
rencies, and emerging technologies, DRI's emphasis on capacity building,
inter-agency synergy, and collaborative enforcement frameworks stands as
a model for effective enforcement.

On this Founding Day, I convey my deepest appreciation to every offi-
cer and staff member of DRI. May DRI continue to advance with resolve and
innovation, fortifying India's economic sovereignty and national security.
