On the 68 Foundation Day of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence
(DRI), my greetings and deep appreciation to its officers and staff for their
unwavering commitment to duty and excellence.

Over the past decades, DRI has built formidable capabilities to detect
and dismantle diverse and sophisticated smuggling activities, ranging from
narcotic drugs, gold, and other precious metals to endangered wildlife and
hazardous goods posing grave risks to environment, public health, safety,
and national security.

In today's global environment, marked by conflicts, supply chain
disruptions, and rising tariff and non-tariff barriers, DRI's role is ever more
critical in ensuring that India's economic and trade ecosystem is sustainable,
rule-based, and inclusive. As India moves towards becoming the world's
third-largest economy, DRI is poised to play a pivotal role in fostering a
culture of compliance and thereby safeguarding our economic, financial, and
trade integrity.

On this occasion, I commend the DRI for its professionalism, foresight,
and dedication, and urge it to keep strengthening its institutional resilience
by leveraging advanced data analytics, capacity building of its work force
and embracing technology-enabled enforcement, to meet future challenges.
