Case 4: Cocaine traĜcking via ingestion and liquid concealment

In July 2024, 202 grams of cocaine concealed
in 10 capsules ingested by a passenger and an
additional 1161 grams of cocaine in liquid
form, concealed inside a liqueur bottle were
seized by DRI from the baggage of a Kenyan
National arriving at Cochin International Air-
port from Addis Ababa.

Case 5: 1.98 kg cocaine concealed in toilet-
ry boĴles seized

In August 2024, 1.98 kg cocaine concealed in
shampoo bottles and body lotion bottles that
were being smuggled by a female arriving from
Nairobi was seized by DRI at Mumbai airport.

b. Heroin

Heroin smuggling continues to pose a significant challenge. India is a critical tran-
sit hub for traffickers moving heroin to international markets. The country’s
extensive land borders, long coastline, and difficult terrain further complicate
enforcement efforts, offering multiple avenues for traffickers to evade detection.
