Case 2: Large-scale dual-use equipment seized by DRI
In August 2024, DRI intercepted a transit consignment containing a Com-
puter Numerical Control (CNC) Fibre Laser Cutting Machine (Model: A3
3000W). Expert analysis confirmed that the machine, capable of high-pre-
cision laser cutting, could be misused for the production of components
relevant to defense, aerospace, and nuclear applications and hence was
seized under the Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Delivery Systems
(Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Act, 2005 and Customs Act, 1962.
