a. Seizures in the North-East Region

Smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes into India, through the India-Myanmar
land border and thereafter through the North-East region to the rest of India, con-
tinues undiminished.

In several operations, DRI seized 1.33 crore foreign-origin cigarettes in various
places in the North-East and arrested 14 persons involved in the smuggling of cig-
arettes.
