Conclusion
The Digital Investigation Manual will always be a work in progress. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its applications and usage are growing exponentially. Further, the nature of crimes is bound to continuously evolve and the tools and techniques used to commit them are expected to follow suit.
The forensic tools to obtain the probative evidence also have to keep pace with the above developments. This manual was designed to address the theoretical framework governing aspects of digital evidence and digital forensics, and also to provide practical guidelines which would be of actual help during investigations and on-field operations.
Post its release by the Chairman, CBIC, the Manual has already been shared with all zonal heads dealing with investigation work under CBIC. However, the same can still be shared if anyone desires, by sending request to dg-dri@nic.in.
