The financial year 2024–25 has seen DRI further intensify its focus on technolo-
gy-driven intelligence gathering, advanced risk profiling, and network analysis.
Through the integration of big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and
inter-agency information sharing frameworks, DRI has substantially augmented
its ability to detect, deter, and dismantle organised smuggling syndicates. These
enhanced capabilities have allowed the Directorate to stay ahead of emerging
threats and to exploit new opportunities for pre-emptive enforcement.

Aligned with the Government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat”, DRI continues its trans-
formation into a modern, technology-empowered, and globally networked
enforcement agency. Its approach now extends beyond interdiction to encompass
deterrence, addressing systemic vulnerabilities within legitimate trade channels
and fortifying preventive mechanisms through data-driven insights, risk-based
            targeted controls, and predictive analytics.

The Smuggling in India Report 2024–25 encapsulates these multifaceted efforts.
It analyses emerging trends in smuggling, highlights significant enforcement
actions, and identifies strategic areas for policy and operational focus. The Report
also reflects DRI’s expanding inter-agency partnerships, international engage-
ments, and its enduring resolve to safeguard India’s economic sovereignty and
            national security through strengthened collaboration.

As we mark 68 years of the Directorate’s service to the nation, I wish to place on
record my profound appreciation for the exceptional professionalism, integrity,
and dedication displayed by DRI officers across the country. Their unwavering
commitment and courage remain the bedrock of the Organisation’s success. I also
extend my sincere gratitude to the team that has diligently compiled this Report,
which continues to serve as an authoritative reference on the evolving landscape
of smuggling and enforcement in India.

It is with great pride that I present the “Smuggling in India Report 2024–25”, a
testament to DRI’s enduring spirit of vigilance, innovation, and collaboration in
strengthening national security, protecting public safety, and securing the nation’s
            economic and strategic interests.
